Habs trim Lightning in OT

The Montreal Canadiens went from one extreme to another, playing Monday in front of 2,000 fans at Truro, N.S., and a capacity crowd of 21,273 at the Bell Centre on Tuesday. But they kept on winning.

Alexander Perezhogin scored 2:13 into overtime to lift the Canadiens to a 4-3 victory over the visiting Tampa Bay Lightning.

Montreal snapped a four-game losing streak by thumping the Ottawa Senators 7-3 in Monday's exhibition.

Perezhogin recorded the decisive goal on a delayed penalty call, deflecting Mike Komisarek's point shot past Johan Holmqvist.

Canadiens captain Saku Koivu forced overtime with his second goal in three games at 9:56 of the third period.

Mathieu Dandenault and Andrei Kostitsyn tallied Montreal's other markers.

Cristobal Huet turned aside 27 of 30 shots for the win.

Eric Perrin, Filip Kuba and Ryan Craig had power-play goals for the Lightning.

Martin St. Louis added two assists.

Rob DiMaio reportedly suffered a concussion when slammed hard into the boards by Canadiens rookie Guillaume Latendresse early in the first period.

"I was asked to go out and hit people; I saw a chance to do it and I took it," Latendresse said. "I hit to hurt people, but not to injure them."

Latendresse was assessed a major penalty for boarding and ejected.
